Keep track of your fishing, and give valuable data for fisheries management in Denmark

This app is a tool for anglers who would like to keep a cool diary that makes it easy to overlook catches and fishing trips and at the same time give a helping hand to the fish stocks in Denmark. Data from "Fangstjournalen" is used by DTU Aqua to conduct research that can support and preserve fish stocks and ultimately to support sustainable recreational fisheries. The app is developed by DTU Aqua, Technical University of Denmark, who provides advisory services about fish and fisheries for the Ministry of Environment and Food of Denmark, for municipalities and several NGO’s.

Fangstjournalen makes it easy to register the details about your fishing trip and catches - either while you are fishing or when the fishing trip has been completed.

Fangstjournalen - a lot of benefits for the fish stocks

When you use Fangstjournalen, you provide valuable data that are used in the management and research that DTU Aqua conduct. Currently info about the status of the fish stocks are scarce in many waters and that is a limiting factor for fisheries management. Data are used to increase our knowledge about how fish stocks react e.g., to changes in climate, habitats, abundance of fish predators, fisheries regulation, pollution, invasive species and more.

All catches and fishing trips are anonymous and your name will not be published in Fangstjournalen. The public statistics shown in Fangstjournalen is always based on several fishing trips and its not possible to identify individual anglers. Your shared information will not be linked to your name; it will become part of a combined database. If you like, you can make your catch “public” and it will be displayed on the front page of the app. If you prefer, you can also choose to make your catch private. Then its not included in any public statistics shown at Fangstjournalen, but is still available for research purposes.
